For The Older Mum

1. The good thing about giving cake as

a present is that it?s a present to be

shared. And the good thing about a

Mother's Day cake is that there is such

a wide selection available. Head for

the cake shop ... or the supermarket ...

or the bakery.

2. "Remembering when" is made a

whole lot easier with books like this

one. Home-grown stunning pictures

of Australia and Australian life abound

in Australian Memories In Black And

White, $75, from all good book sellers.

3. Just about every mum loves chockies

and a long-time favourite is Cadbury's

Roses. A 500g box is about $20 from

most supermarkets and food stores.

4. It has often been said that flowers

always work and you can spend as

little or as much as you have or want.

Expect flower shops and roadside

outlets to be well stocked in time for

Mother?s Day buying.

5. The Sound of Music is a family musical

firmly locked at the top of the list of

all-time hit picks. Mum or grandmum

would love her own copy of this Julie

Andrews classic. Pick one up from

video shops and music outlets.

6. Just the thing for storing precious

treasures is this motif jewellery box

or motif frame. They come in one

size and one price ? $9.95 ? and are

available from Spotlight stores.
